It’s a life update: Flying down to Hobart for a quick trip to relax and chill and take pictures next week. The fine folk at Crumpler and especially Luisa have been so kind in supporting all my picture taking ventures and I am forever grateful for their continued support.
I recently started shooting my days on film and the Sebang (S) is now my prime bag for all the analog gear that I use. Packed snug in the lil Sebang is a: Pentax K1000 with a Tokina 28mm 2.8, a Sigma 28-105mm 5.6 and about six rolls of film. In the front compartment fits my phone, my coins $$$, business cards and lip balm. There’s alps a section in the main compartment to fit an iPad air or even a notebook.
In my four years of shooting and with the two DSLR’s that i have- i’ve only ever used the straps provided by Canon- safe to say they are rubbish compared to the Convenient Disgrace strap, comparable to the feeling of clouds- or like how Crocs feel on your feet but for your neck/shoulders, yet 100x more visually attractive. I’m definitely a fan of this all black strap, adds to my ‘ninja’ all black look when i’m shooting haha.
I’ve developed this obsession for film in the past month or so. Currently on the hunt for a Polaroid Land Camera so I can shoot with Fujifilm’s peel apart films- look at how delicious those colors are and it’s instant film too!
Planning concepts to shoot my first fashion lookbook thingy. I’ve never shot any thing in fashion aside for a few runways and one time backstage, so I was boggled that this designer reached out and wanted me to shoot her collection. Her collection was in RMIT’s Emerging Runway that I shot and we’re currently collaborating on ideas and approaches. She knows I’m a noobie in regards to fashion so is really accommodating and open to my different approach. My folio is made of live music, landscapes and a couple people shots. I shoot in documentary style, nothing is planned, my approach is effortless and I wait for things to happen or I find interesting details and moments that usually surpass the eye in initial viewing to shoot. I’m loving these concepts and creative freedom. Good things and new things to come.
Even though this year I haven’t shot much music, i’ve dabbled into other areas of photography: promos, behind the scenes stuff, the ice hockey and fashion shows. And i’m experimenting with different mediums and exploring my capabilities and my likes and dislikes. Although a slow year for business, a big year for discovering and appreciating different areas of photography.
